PDE5 inhibitors (if prescribed)
- ABSOLUTE CONTRAINDICATION: concurrent nitrate use (nitroglycerin, isosorbide, amyl nitrite/poppers) — potentially fatal hypotension.
- Relative contraindications: recent cardiovascular event, severe hepatic impairment, retinitis pigmentosa, NAION history.
- Common effects: headache, flushing, visual disturbances, nasal congestion.
- Seek emergency care immediately for erection lasting more than 4 hours (priapism).
Premature ejaculation treatments
If serotonergic agents are used, serotonin syndrome risk exists with concurrent SSRI/SNRI medications. Discontinuation effects may occur when stopping.
